2. Descriptive Narration

Worked in various positions ranging from consultancy, program implementation to management.  Presently working as project manager and overseeing all projects being implemented by Wildlife and Environmental Society of Malawi (WESM) Nkhata Bay Branch including Community Empowerment and Social Security Project; Gender and Human Rights Project, Environment, Sanitation and HIV/AIDS Project and Combating Gender Based Violence Project under the Environmental Youth Initiative, a brainchild that now is Peace Ministries-Development Initiative (PMC-DI). Held positions and managed projects with bias to Environmental Management, Social, Cultural and Political Rights.

Participated in various countrywide assessments, national board meetings and documented reports to further programmatic opportunities for WESM. These included Women Empowerment Programs, fisheries extension staff and Beach Village Committee (BVC) training workshops on community based fisheries management, assessment and implementation of HIV/AIDS intervention and support program activities in Nkhata bay district. Vast experience in participatory approaches including PRA, PHAST, Training for Transformation, REFLECT approach, and basic scientific knowledge.

Became an active member of WESM senior management team.    Participates in the on going review and development of WESM overall Development Strategy and of individual project plans. Provides technical and administrative support to project staff and volunteers. This involves provision of training for staff and volunteers in tasks such as concept paper development; project proposal preparation; facilitation skills; Human Rights monitoring; investigation; fact finding; documentation reporting and advocacy. Participates in the recruitment of technical staff, formation of Wildlife clubs and Community Based Volunteers.

Ensures appropriate liaison, co-ordination and negotiation with key stakeholders at all levels of implementation of projects. Build and strengthen partnership with relevant district departments through joint planning, joint implementation and joint monitoring of activities. Produce weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports for WESM. Participates in inter-organizational meetings and cost sharing training exercises at district level.  In liaison with the chairman, take up leadership and management of all WESM activities being implemented in Nkhatabay district. 


B. Executive Director, Environmental Youth Initiative - the Nkhata Bay's Young Voices, 2001 - 2003

Works with the Environmental Youth Initiative (EYI), a local youth organisation operating in the field of natural resources conservation and environmental management. I work directly with community as well as through government institutions involved in development and natural resources and environmental management. I'm mainly involved in activities directed at alleviating poverty, sickness and creating a better living place for the people. I'm also involved in capacity building of development facilitators and community through education, research and training. Coordinated Para-legal service provision between Para-legal staff, clients and relevant institutions and individuals in assisting communities to access primary or formal justice systems.

C. Secretary, Court Users' Committee, Nkhata Bay, 2003

Becomes an active member of the Court Users' Committee; Compile reports on administrative and financial information to Paralegal Advisory Service (PAS) office in Mzuzu including and not limited to batches, request for funds, procurement and bank transfers. Travels to project areas to monitor and evaluate project activities, maintains a proper documentation of activities through monthly, quarterly and yearly reports and story highlight. Inclusively dealing with Criminal Justice, Juvenile Justice and Delinquency, inter-departmental liaison, Transparency and Accountability in the society. Advocated for the formation of Care and Concern Orphan Care Organisation (another brain child) that is currently looking after more than 280 orphans and 376 other vulnerable children (OVC) at Nkhatabay boma.
