Africa Bags Micro-lending wants to connect you to a small business owner in
Malawi to help them alleviate poverty.
From
our first trip to Malawi we knew we wanted to set up a micro-lending project. Although our sewing villages are flourishing,
their neighbors are still struggling. Through micro-lending we hope to greatly expand the amount of people we
are able to help. In order to save on travel costs, the Africa Bags micro-lending project initially will focus
on the areas around our villages. Our hope is to continue to grow and to be able to expand the program to all of northern
Malawi.
Micro-lending is a way to get small amounts of money to some
of the poorest people in the world. Instead of giving a hand-out you are giving a hand-up. Loan recipients are
learning valuable business skills, receiving training from experienced loan officers, and starting their dream businesses.
In the poorest countries in the world most people struggle to survive. Because of the vicious cycle of poverty they
will never get ahead. A micro-loan can pull an entrepreneur out of poverty and put them on the road to financial stability.

Africa Bags micro-lending is a person-to-person lending program. You are the
lender and an entrepreneur in Malawi is the recipient.
Our
project coordinator in Malawi meets with entrepreneurs to help them formulate business plans, and provides assistance as the
loan is implemented. The project coordinator also can provide business training as needed. The profiles of loan
applicants are real people or groups of people. Your money will fund their loan. You will receive updates on the loan
and the project it funded. The best thing about the program is after the loan has been paid back (usually in 6-12 months),
the money will go back into your account and you can loan it again to another project! By funding one loan, for as little
as $20, you can impact communities over and over again in Malawi.
Are you
ready to make a difference in the life of a Malawian? Make your small business loan in Malawi today for as little as
$20.
